Automobile Parts Type 1A Square Head Tapered Plug —— Product Introduction
The Type 1A square head tapered plug is a sealing plug widely used on automotive engines, transmissions, axles, brake systems and other assemblies. Its head is square, making it easy to tighten with a wrench or socket. The threaded portion adopts a tapered pipe thread (such as NPT, BSPT or NPTF), which forms a metal-to-metal seal by mating with the tapered hole in the housing, effectively preventing leakage of oil, water or gas without the need for an additional gasket. The product complies with relevant automotive industry standards (such as QC/T 378). Materials are mostly free-cutting carbon steel (such as Y15, SUM24L) or stainless steel, and common surface treatments include zinc plating, blackening and phosphating to meet corrosion resistance and assembly requirements.
1. Product Features
• Square head structure: The square head provides a large contact surface, is not easy to slip during installation, and can be operated with an open-end wrench, ring wrench or special socket.
• Tapered thread sealing: The thread is a tapered pipe thread. When tightened into the matching tapered hole, it becomes progressively tighter, forming a good metal-to-metal seal without the need for sealing washers or sealant.
• Simple and compact structure: Small size and little space occupation, suitable for installation in narrow spaces without affecting the overall assembly layout.
• Various materials: Carbon steel, stainless steel and other materials are commonly used, allowing selection according to the operating environment, such as high temperature or corrosive media.
• Complete surface treatment: Surfaces can be zinc plated, blackened, phosphated, etc., to improve corrosion resistance and appearance quality.
• Good interchangeability: Manufactured to standard dimensions and matched with standard tapered pipe thread holes, providing strong versatility and easy maintenance and replacement.
2. Product Advantages
• Reliable sealing: The self-sealing tapered thread eliminates the need for additional sealing elements, simplifies assembly, and is not easy to loosen or leak during long-term use.
• Easy installation and removal: The square head allows tools to grip firmly and withstand high torque, facilitating rapid assembly and disassembly and improving maintenance efficiency.
• Vibration resistance and anti-loosening: The tight fit of the tapered thread maintains good fastening condition under automotive vibration and bumpy working conditions, and is not prone to self-loosening.
• Good pressure resistance: Suitable for hydraulic and pneumatic systems and other parts with certain pressure requirements, and can withstand high media pressure.
• Cost-effective: Simple structure and high production efficiency; common materials are ordinary free-cutting steel, resulting in low overall cost and suitability for mass use.
• Wide application: Can be used with various media (oil, water, gas) and under different temperature conditions. Different materials and surface treatments can be selected to adapt to various working conditions.
3. Scope of Application
The Type 1A square head tapered plug is mainly used for sealing process holes, inspection holes, drain holes and other holes in automotive powertrain, chassis systems, brake systems and various fluid pipelines. Common applications include:
• Engine: Plugging process holes in cylinder block, cylinder head, oil passages and water passages.
• Transmission: Sealing oil passages, inspection holes and drain holes in the housing.
• Axles and reducers: Oil hole plugs on axle housings and differential housings.
• Brake system: Plugging air holes and fluid holes on brake calipers and brake valve bodies.
• Steering system: Sealing holes on steering gear housings and power steering pump bodies.
• Fuel system: Plugs for holes on fuel filters and fuel pump housings.
• Other industrial and construction machinery: Holes requiring tapered pipe thread sealing, such as hydraulic valve blocks, pump bodies and motors.
